2015 SINGLE Napa Valley Petit Verdot
Harvest date: October 5, 2015
Brix: 24.9 and pH: 3.65
Alcohol: 14.6
Production: 100 cases
100% Petit Verdot
2015 harvest brought an unusually low yield of grapes per vine, which was not surprising given California’s ongoing drought, which was so extreme that the cover crops in many vineyards never took hold. A very poor fruit set in Spring set the tone for an extremely low production, but extremely high quality. "Early" was the key word all season, from budbreak to veraison to harvest.
This is the first vintage of Single and it may surprise some people that the first release is a Petit Verdot. Don’t tell that to the vines that produced the incredible grapes that yielded this truly extraordinary wine!
I suggest decanting this for a few hours prior to drinking, or just go for it and watch the wine evolve while you enjoy the bottle!
Soft, integrated tannin supports juicy black currant and a svelte layering of dark chocolate, punctured by an arsenal of beautiful violet aromas. This is a big wine with a healthy tannin structure so we can look for it to evolve graciously for another 20+ years.
Enjoy! Cheers!
