2014 Waugh Russian River Pinot Noir

100% Pinot Noir

One of the reasons I love making wine is Mother Nature never has the same season twice. And my goal is to always try and capture the nuances of each harvest in every bottle of Waugh.

Given the low alcohol and high acidity in this year’s Pinot, please feel free to lay this wine down for a couple years. Of course, given our soft, yet powerfully elegant style, go ahead and taste now, but know it is certainly going to get better with age!

This wine begins with inviting aromas of fresh raspberry, strawberry and a touch of vanilla. This silky wine brings forth flavors of strawberry rhubarb and clove plum upon the palate. With medium body, moderate tannins and a subdued acidity up front, this is a wine made to age!

The wine was aged for 16 months in 100% neutral oak barrels, allowing the fruit and terroir to completely shine, and bottled aged for 8 months prior to releasing to the FOWCers.

As always, the Waugh Cellars Russian River Pinot is a blend of our 3 RRV vineyards and is 100% Pinot Noir.
